iPad App

Client

Jaguar Land Rover - ETO Division / CRICKET

The Brief

Create an App to introduce the ETO Division of JLR. The 'Engineered To Order' Division consists of a team of specialists who tailor your vehicle to your specification. These range from performance enhancements to added levels of luxury and convenience. JLR needed an avenue to shout about the division at the L.A. Motor Show, this is where we came in.

Our Solution

RARE created an iPad driven digital brochure, allowing the PR team to guide potential clients through the available case studies. The App was designed as a showcase tool to gain consumer interest at the show. Requirements would be so bespoke they would be followed up by a design technician - well at least until version 2.0 comes out!

Challenges

The tight deadline only allowed us to focus on the key priorities for release for the L.A. Motor Show. Several of our ideas and concepts had to be pushed back until the v2 release.

The Results

A well received App that enabled JLR to present the ETO Division to potential private, corporate and public clients.

Range Rover Evoque iPad Application

Client

Jaguar Land Rover / CRICKET

The Brief

Create an App to support the global media launch of the new Range Rover Evoque. Showcasing the car to 700 worldwide journalists the app will support a two day drive across North Wales into Liverpool spanning 4 weeks. The solution must excite and inform when it comes to all things Evoque and the adventure about to unfold.

Our Solution

RARE jumped at challenge creating an App packed with 20 interactive pages, 6 main sections, interactive map and over 160 movies, all available in 9 languages.

The App we developed gave the user a compelling, interactive experience with easy to use navigation, displaying a wealth of Range Rover Evoque info, complex engineering data and dynamic moving image. The virtual map interface allowed the user to gain an insight into the journey they were about to embark on.

To accompany this, we created a full colour supporting booklet, in all 9 languages.

Challenges

With tight deadlines, production running alongside and sometimes in front of approvals RARE had to make sure the team could easily swap content, we developed a unique way to error check builds whilst production still took place, pooling videos outside of the build releases allowed swift transfers to the client.

The Results

A well received App that enabled Jaguar Land Rover to present a powerful demo of the Range Rover Evoque.

Social Media Sizzle Reel

Client

Edelman

The Brief

Produce a showreel to visualise and celebrate the breadth of Edelman's past social strategy successes. "Oh, and by the way, we haven't got any content for you to use!

Our Solution

With an unbelievably tight timeline, this required quick creative thinking. We adopted a 'scrap-book' style creative allowing us to combine the varying projects assets together in a coherent and complementary way.

Challenges

Concept, design and produce a motion piece within 2 days that champions Edelman's social strategy successes. Sourcing imagery, content to support all campaigns.

The Results

The client was so enamoured with the final result it was rolled out as a '…global model for our business.."

Matching Bikes to Riders for 90yrs

Client

Evans Cycles / Play People

The Brief

To celebrate Evans Cycles 90th anniversary they commissioned a 90 second film displaying key moments from the company's history. RARE were asked to create, animate and overlay graphics and video interview clips. We were also required to track and stablise the film and to give it all a final polish.

Our Solution

We created single colour graphics that would complement the flow of the piece. It was imperative that the films runtime was 90 seconds(one second for every year), so we had to create recognisable objects that get the idea across in an instant. The films gentle movement lent itself to the animation style of the objects we created. Once placed with in the film and sound effects added, we were left with a beautiful yet informative finished piece.

Challenges

Image clean up, stabilising and intense motion tracking were all very difficult due to the quality and limited footage we were supplied.

The Results

Recognition

Played throughout the UK Stores and Pop Ups. Showcased on evanscycles.com.

Project

Vodafone VGE

Client

Vodafone

The Brief

Vodafone Global Enterprises wanted to showcase their worldwide achievements. Separate quotes and ideas needed to be tied together to produce an easy to watch info-graphic as this was to be an intro for several of international global seminars.

Our Solution

Taking each win VGE had achieved we found similar symbols, shapes and objects so we could initiate seamless transitions between each scenario. Graphically, we kept the design simple as not to divert attention from the info that was being displayed.

Challenges

Producing a coherent storyboard with such varied subject matter that flowed seemlessly.

The Results

The original edit went down a storm and was extremely well received globally. This edit is a much striped back version created for internal comms.

What they said:

"RARE frequently exceed our expectations by adding extra magic to projects, laughing in the face of bleeding-edge technology and mastering it as they go without missing a step. These guys can pull-off pretty much any digital job conceivable, quickly and effectively, and they are just as capable of brilliant conceptual thinking. A rarity indeed."

Project

MIPIN Showreel

Client

TP Bennett LLP

The Brief

RARE were asked to create a portfolio showreel to be projected onto the TP Bennett stand at the worlds largest real estate show, MIPIN. Working with the client and initial concepts we were asked to come up with a visually engaging and animated solution. The animated piece was to cover six disciplines and over 50 projects.

Our Solution

Architecture is all about 3D space, we felt even the 2D assets we'd been supplied needed to fill this 3rd dimension, we set to work creating animations and transitions that achieved this. Combined with overlaying graphics, motion clips, renders and type treatments we created an exciting piece that could captivate while still be informative.

Challenges

We had to provide an overall treatment where individual projects would slot in easily, yet be different enough to remain engaging but all still be unmistakably all tp bennett, not as easy as it sounds!

The Results

When originally briefed, the requirements were for a 10 minutes piece. The success of the execution was such that this grew to be a 25 minute piece. On top of this it was later re-edited to a 5 minute teaser and sent to key prospective clients as part of a CD-Rom package.

What they said:

"RARE exceeded our expectations, [their] creative excellence, thoughtful critique, and technical expertise helped shape our project into a product we have shown with pride time and again."

Client

Circle Healthcare

The Brief

Circle are a refreshingly new Healthcare Partnership. Their focus is on providing better healthcare to the whole of the uk, .Develop a sophisticated and consistent brand message through Circle Health's many sites utilising a powerful CMS.

Our Solution

With such diverse information across several hospitals and clinics, planning of the site templates was crucial to its success. Coupled with an advanced and expandable CMS solution the site has the capacity to grow as Circle itself expands as a leader in modern healthcare.

Challenges

With a brief and initial wireframe that spanned over 45 pages it was crucial that the site had a defined structure that was also flexible enough to grow and fulfil the different requirements of the individual hospitals.

The Results

Site traffic quadrupled in the first 90 days.

CMS infrastructure has been used to harmonise the administrators communications both internally and externally.

EU Digital agency

Client

Fila EU

The Brief

Fila needed a structured move online, as their current presence was weak to say the least. The solution would need to be adaptable as the needs of the brand expanded. The chosen agency would be appointed as Fila EU's digital agency working inline with PR, product and print agencies to strengthen the brands integrity across the board.

Our Solution

With any project it is always important to consider the current effectiveness of site structure, clarity of information and ease of navigation. We stripped Fila back to its bare bones, overhauled its look and feel ensuring through the line brand values retained continuity online. After introducing a social strategy, we maintained and populated networks to increase awareness.

Challenges

Developing a social strategy with no current infrastructure was demanding but gave us the opportunity to start from scratch and create new two way channels for Fila.

The Results

Site traffic more than doubled in the first month. RAREs designs produced for Fila EU have been emulated in other regions. They say copying is the best form of flattery...

FULLCIRCLE

The Brief

To create a completely new web platform for FULLCIRCLE. The site should heavily promote the new campaign, a look book and help dip their toe into the social media waters.

Our Solution

Built in DHTML, the site used some of the latest Javascript functionality to bring new imagery to life using simple yet effective techniques, yet keeping the campaign imagery as the main focus. A simple to use CMS allowed quick changes to the site and adding content to the new bespoke social media section became a breeze for the team.

Challenges

We wanted the site to have the animated fluidity of a flash site, yet the accessibility of html so this utilised some fairly nifty javascript.

The Results

Over a 300% increase in site traffic in the first month and a welcome opportunity for users to engage with Fullcircle on their first ever blog.

Information Pioneers Web site

Client

BCS. The Chartered Institute for IT / Glasshouse

The Brief

Produce a web site for the BCS's new campaign 'Information Pioneers'. The campaign showcased celebrities championing their favourite IT heroes. The site was to form a central hub where users would be encouraged to watch, vote and comment on their individual heroes or one of the other 150 listed!

Our Solution

To showcase each pioneer meant we had to combine various user processes, storing and updating data constantly, linking a twitter stream, blog and various behind the scenes footage to generate a compelling site. Each Pioneer then had their own designated page where the user would find our more. User generated content formed the basis of the site and would only be a success if it gained momentum, which thankfully it did with gusto!

Challenges

Site structure was key to this being a success and allowing the user to easily navigate the site. Creating a bespoke CMS that incorporated a nested comments structure and through the design and architecture encouraged online debate allowed this all to come together.

The Results

A Gold and a Silver award at Digital Impact Awards. The Silver was for 'Best use of digital to aid a CR campaign' and the Gold was for 'Best use of online video. The judges described the campaign as "head and shoulders above the rest" and "the clear winner from the outset."

"Win your perfect day" Competition Website & Branding

Client

Silver Spring / Devilfish

The Brief

RARE were asked to create an brand identity to capture the essence of the up-coming competition to 'Win Your Perfect Day'. Featured on promotional drinks bottles this would encourage the consumer online to enter a competition. RARE were also appointed to design and create the competition entry site and manage the data captured.

Our Solution

The identity had to be clean and simple in essence, it was to be displayed alongside the bottle labels which were extremely colourful and detailed. Needless to say our design fitted like a glove. The site itself needed to contain two methods of competition entry, one through code entry, the other a simple way to tell everyone about your perfect day. We created a bespoke CMS with the ability to manage and publish entrant stories, update pages and celebrate the winner, linking all content to Facebook to encourage social seeding.

Challenges

While Perfectly Clear were offering £1,500 to spend on your 'perfect day' it was important that the site graphically 'encouraged' the reality of this and not jet-setting off to the Caribbean with Johnny Depp! Employing ideas of picnics seems to do the trick!

The Results

The Perfectly Clear Competition site received over 30,000 page views and 5,500 unique visitors in less than 2 months. So successful that they extended the life of the competition by another 2 months.

Portfolio website

Client

Hannah Maule-ffinch

The Brief

Create an online portfolio to showcase Hannah's photography to potential clients. A key requirement was that the site was updatable with the ability to add further projects as they arose.

Our Solution

RARE designed a flash site that would present the photographs as large as we could get them within the confines of the browser. We then overlaid this with an effective and intuitive menu structure that made navigation instantly reassuring.

This all runs off an in house designed PHP CMS which allows the site content to be completely editable by the administrators.

Challenges

To create an affordable yet flexible CMS that ties into a flash front end.

Develop a intelligent loading system to ensure the sites content was easily streamed to the user.

The Results

Hannah has been able to showcase her new projects through the site to new clients, leading to new work for her and us.

The Ultimate Card

Client

Salamanca Private Clients

The Brief

The Private Clients division of The Salamanca Group deals with high net worth individuals and were launching a new tailored Visa Card. Our brief was to create an brand identity for this division, design the new card, create a booklet and a design a few bespoke web pages to support the launch of the card.

Our Solution

SPC were already using black and gold, however we injected some contemporary colours to give the whole look and feel a distinct edge. Once the initial creative direction had been fleshed out it was simple for us to move this over to the VISA card, DM and site. Due to the target market we wanted something very slick, that was void of any gimmicks. We think we achieved this, and more importantly so did the client.

Challenges

Despite the fact the card was purely for marketing purposes we wanted this to be as close to the final 'real' card as possible. The main challenge was producing something slick whilst adhering to Visa's stringent guidelines.

The Results

The card was initially produced a marketing demo for the Monaco Yacht show. This was very well received by potential new clients and a fantastic uptake in the product.

What they said:

DVD Authoring

Client

Maersk / Myriad Global Media

The Brief

To create an appealing concept for a range of four films that were created for the corporate oil multinational, Maersk. The DVD should steer clear of the norm and stand out as unique in its design and navigation. The DVD needed to work intuitively as a standalone entity and within a kiosk/touchscreen environment. This gave RARE a chance to flex its creative muscle in a market that is often dominated by lacklustre visuals.

Our Solution

Touchscreens are by their very nature linear in their interface architecture and easy to use, big buttons and simple navigation. Simplicity here was the order of the day, we created a unique left/right navigation which transports the user around a virtual environment that looped and played seamlessly to each menu screen. When clicked, the menu system blended with the chosen film, upon completion of the film it blends seamlessly back to the menu screen, sounds simple, but hard to achieve within a DVD system.

Challenges

We had to build the structure using placeholders as many of the films were being finished and graded as while we had to move into production. The design concepts utilised assets from the start and the end frames of each film to create the illusion of seamlessness. Obtaining these early (from unfinished films) to keep the project on track was a gamble, but this paid off and the project was finished on schedule.

The Results

Previewed at a trade show in Dubia, the piece was a success and well used over the week of the show.

What we provided

What they said:

"We use RARE for our 'high-end' solutions. They have fastidious attention to detail, fantastic creative solutions and an astonishing ability to deliver on time no matter what we throw at them. Site Design

Client

David Money Architects

The Brief

David came to us to create a site that showcased his favourite projects and gave him room to add and remove sites at his discretion.

Our Solution

Understanding Davids need to keep the site as accessible as possible, we created an HTML site driven by an open source CMS and stylishly animated with simple javascript classes. After trawling through their great array of images, blueprints and tech drawing we felt the best route would be to get imagery as large as possible to give the user the best view of the detailed work.

Challenges

Like any Architects, precision is paramount. In creating this site we had to ensure our designs conveyed this throughout. We produced a varied set of designs for the initial concepts, then filtered down the important aspects of each into one clean, precise design solution.

The Results

Raised awareness of David Money online, increased traffic to sales conversions through a strategic A/B marketing campaign
